Last updated October 2026 · Applies to voters, spectators, nominators and organisers using AyamVote.
AyamVote provides paid online voting for events, awards, pageants and competitions in Ghana. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use AyamVote, why, who it is shared with, how long it is kept and what you can ask us to do with it. It should be read with our Terms and Conditions.
Voters. When you vote, we collect the email address you give for your receipt, or your phone number and mobile network if you vote by USSD, together with your order: the event, category and contestant, the number of votes, the amount and the payment reference. You do not create an account to vote.
Spectators. Following live results needs nothing personal. Your browser keeps a random code that holds your place among an event's live viewers.
Nominators. When you submit a nomination, we collect your name and email address and the nominee's name and description that you enter.
Organisers. When you create an organiser account, we collect your name, email address and password (stored only as a one-way hash), your organisation's details, the content you upload (such as contestant photos and event banners) and your payout account's bank or network name, account name and the last 4 digits of the account number.
Everyone. With some actions, such as starting a payment, signing in or sending us a message, we record the network (IP) address and browser type the request came from, as part of our security log. If you use the contact form, we keep your name, email address and message.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
AyamVote does not set cookies. Our pages use your browser's own storage for a few things only: your place in a voting queue, your live-results viewer place, and, for organisers, staying signed in. Our hosting provider may set a strictly necessary security cookie of its own.
AyamVote's servers and service providers may store and process information outside Ghana. We use established providers and send information to them only to run the service.
Information travels over encrypted connections. Passwords are stored only as one-way hashes, each organiser can access only their own organisation's data, and sensitive account and payment actions are recorded in an audit log. No system is completely secure, and we will act promptly if we learn of a problem.
Under Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843), you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it. Use the contact form on our homepage and include the order or nomination reference if your request is about one. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana.
Organiser accounts are for adults. Organisers are responsible for having permission to publish the names, photos and details of the contestants they add, as the Terms and Conditions explain.
We may update this policy as AyamVote changes. The latest version is always the one published here, with its date at the top.
